Firmware Updates for the NX300 (ver.1.10)

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has updated the firmware for the NX300 to version 1.10. Improvements include but are not limited to upgrades in the Playback view and AF speed and accuracy. The playback view has been improved so that the NX300 remembers the last image viewed, automatically taking the user to the most recent image. Improvements also include a reduction shot-to-shot time and system upgrade.

This firmware upgrade improves the product’s performance and replaces the M/Link and RVF apps with the upgraded and integrated Samsung SMART CAMERA app. Instructions for upgrading are below.

Firmware Version Information: 1.10.

Major Improvements

  1. The Playback view has been improved so that the NX300 remembers the last image viewed, automatically taking the user to the most recent image.
  2. Focus Peaking and shutter speed errors have been fixed, while the K-MOUNT Adaptor is installed.
  3. Picture Wizard and SmartRange+ functions have been fixed and now can be adjusted together.
  4. AF speed and accuracy have been improved:
    - The back focusing problem of some lenses in the range has been fixed.
    - The AF accuracy of the 85mm lens has been improved.
    - The AF speed and accuracy of the 30mm lens have been improved.
    (To update the 30mm lens, please refer to firmware version 1.21)
  5. Over exposure during video recording in S mode (Shutter priority mode) has been fixed.
  6. Shot to shot time has been reduced.
  7. The ISO value setting menu has been updated to be manually set during video recording in M mode (Manual shooting mode).
  8. The 18-55mm lens OIS error has been fixed.
  9. AP Setting menu has been added to Wi-Fi mode.
  10. [France only] AZERTY keyboard has been added to Wi-Fi mode.
  11. Other bugs are fixed and functions stabilized.

Before Upgrading the Firmware
1) Make sure your battery is fully charged.

Warning: If the camera’s firmware upgrade process is disrupted for any reason, the mainboard may have to be serviced by a Samsung service center, which may result in major repair charges.

2) Format an SD memory card on your PC or camera and then download the firmware file.

3) Place the firmware file into the root directory of the memory card.

4) Once the upgrade process begins, do not operate the camera, remove the battery, or unplug the power cord. Once the upgrade is complete, you can resume normal use of your camera.

How to Upgrade Firmware
1) Download the firmware file into the root directory of an SD memory card.

2) Insert the SD card with the firmware file into the camera.

3) Press the menu button.

4) Move to the “Settings 3″ menu and “Device Information.” Press OK.

5) Select “Firmware Update.” Press OK.

6) Select “Body Firmware.” Press OK.

7) Select “Yes.” Press OK.

8) The progress bar will display the status of the update. When it is complete, the camera will reboot.

Note: If the firmware upgrade is not completed successfully, remove and then re-insert the battery, the firmware upgrade will start again automatically. Should you need further detailed information, or if you experience difficulty in upgrading firmware, do not proceed with the process on your own, visit a Samsung service center near you.

Samsung offers software upgrade for NX300 users

FACT SHEET

  • Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced that it will be offering a new software upgrade (ver. 1.10) for users of the Samsung SMART Camera NX300 worldwide from end of April.
  • The updated version can be accessed by visiting www.samsung.com. Users should go to NX300 product page and click on the ‘Support’ menu for further details.
  • Updated Items:
